Riverside Botanicals, Inc. sprang from the intent to find better health. With
dedication to promoting sustainable foods and supporting global, traditional
farmers and methods--they create products with high integrity ingredients that support a paradigm of whole health living. As an herbalist and organic gardener, President Elaine McDaniel developed Blue Heron Herbs over the past ten years. The recipe for Innocent Chocolate, a unique product of Riverside Botanicals, Inc., was developed by Elaine so she could enjoy the taste of chocolate (which she loves ) without guilt and to eat VIRGIN coconut oil for the many healthy benefits-- especially the support it offered her injured thyroid gland and failing health. Using low glycemic Agave Nectar as the sole sweetener proved to result in the most sumptuous flavor and exquisite texture. She "researched" and "tested" this product on the lab chicks and lab dudes ( a.k.a. friends) since 2002. They have reported less cravings for simple sugars and carbs, more energy, and happy taste buds.
Rosita Alvarez, Vice President, joined in 2006 to help Riverside Botanicals expand and reach out to the world with a chocolate parents can feel great about giving their kids. As a holistic practitioner and artist, her own children carry a high cholesterol genetic heritage of heart disease. After losing her husband to a sudden heart attack, her quest for heart health led to chocolate and Virgin Coconut oil's medium chain fatty acids that statistically lower bad LDL and raise the Good HDL.
Together, Elaine and Rosita aim to model how two single moms can create a successful small business by following their passion, listening to their intuition, learning from mentors, and allowing Grace to lead. They are establishing regional kitchens around the country providing their fresh frozen delicacies to chocolate lovers and building strong sustainable communities. They use organic ingredients to avoid pesticides, insecticides, herbicides, gmo's, and chemical fertilizers for obvious health reasons, but also to support the organic industry which treads gently on the earth. Using only fair trade chocolate supports the growers guaranteeing a livable wage.
